In honor of Community Health Worker Day, Better Health Partnership, Cleveland State University (CSU) and Cuyahoga Community College hosted a celebratory event on Tuesday, June 6 at CSU’s Student Center. More than 150 people attended this event to recognize and appreciate the valuable role CHWs perform by working one-on-one with people in underserved communities to help them navigate the healthcare system, social service sector, and other resources.
The event included several speakers and a passionate and inspiring panel of CHWs sharing how they came to the profession and remarkable stories of client lives they've impacted. Organizations represented on the panel included Birthing Beautiful Communities, the Carmella Rose Health Foundation, the Cleveland Department of Public Health, The MetroHealth System and Spry Senior. A vendor section represented by over 20 social service agencies and managed care plans also provided an opportunity for individuals to network with one another and learn about many services that support the work and professional development of CHWs.
